In the green everywhereeeeee

What's up everyone. Another short but sweet day at the poker tables. I didn't really feel like playing today when I woke up for some reason so I messed around watching Scrubs and playing Modern Warfare 2. After I got bored doing that I decided I would play some poker. It started off pretty nice by cracking somebody's pocket Aces heads up in like my first hand of the day.

Hero (BB) ($2010)
SB ($1000)

SB bets $25, Hero raises $80, SB calls $60

Hero bets $110, SB raises $295, Hero raises $955, SB calls $615 (All-In)

Turn: ($2000) 10 (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($2000) K (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $2000
Hero had 7, J (two pair, Jacks and Sevens)
MP had A , A (a pair of Aces)

So off to a good start. There weren't many 5/10 games running so I'm playing all of them but it's only like 4 games at the time, and 2 of them are me and another regular trying to start some new tables. So as I'm scanning the lobby I see a pretty decent 10/20 game going with a couple fish in it. I decide to sit down. And this hand happens.

Not much to talk about here. I decided to bet the flop because I think I can get called by worse and I'm not really worried about getting c/r'd by a worse hand given the texture. Turn I just check because I don't think hes going to call me with worse anymore and I just make a standard river value bet when I hit my K.

Unfortunately this game dies pretty quickly after it gets infested by short stacks, so I leave. But I see another deep 10/20 game going that seems to have some soft spots so I take that seat. For the first 100 hands I am getting nothing playable and pretty much just waiting to get in a good spot. Then this happens.

MP ($1970)
CO ($2080)
Button ($2428)
SB ($2000)
BB ($4419)
Hero (UTG) ($4357)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7, 7
Hero bets $80, 1 fold, CO calls $80, 2 folds, BB calls $60

Flop: ($250) 8, 7, 8 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $160, 1 fold, BB calls $160

Turn: ($570) 9 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $420, BB raises $1240, Hero calls $820

River: ($3050) J (2 players)
BB bets $1000, Hero calls $1000

Total pot: $5050

Results:
BB had 10, 10 (straight, Jack high).
Hero had 7, 7 (full house, sevens over eights).
Outcome: Hero won $5065

So I make a standard raise. The fish at the table calls me from the CO and then another player tags along from the BB. I flop a full house (yay) and I'm praying the fish comes along or does something spazzy. Unfortunately they fold and the BB calls. The turn is probably the worst card in the deck for me but I have a full house so I bet. This is where it gets interesting because the BB c/r's me to about 3x my bet. So I need to call $820 more and then on the river the pot will be about $3k and we have around $2700 left in our stacks.

My initial reaction to the raise was, man this sucks, why does this always happen to me when I take shots. So on the turn I am behind 87s(which can be discounted because I have 2 of the 7s, so there is only 1 combo 87dd left), 89s(2 combos 89dd, 89ss) and the 3 combos of 99 remaing. However I am ahead of hands like JTs and 56s that called the flop as well as possibly A8s but I dont even know if this villain would raise A8s on this particular turn card.

My plan going forward was to call the turn and re-evaluate on the river. More than likely folding to a shove because a) I dont expect villain to be shoving a worse hand for value and b) I dont ever expect villain to be bluffing

Luckily for me villain only bets $1k on the river. And I call pretty quickly and see his pocket Ts for a rivered straight.

So after winning a little less than $4k at 10/20 and losing around $600 at 5/10, I finished the day up $3300 in around 750 hands. Also with my 10/20 winning I am now up at every limit from 2/4-10/20 for the month which is nice. Hopefully I can keep the heater going.

Tonight were going out to celebrate my friend Drew's birthday. He's one of my friends from Va Beach who also moved down to Atlanta around a year ago. So I think we are going to pre-game at his house and then go to some bars in the area. Should be a good time. Talk to you guys later.
